Fodor's uses local people to get the skinny on each town, so they are very thorough & hold insider information. This is what we turned to every day, vs numerous books and many maps on hand, lolz, certainly not the advertiser's articles and ratings- based articles you'll find in the towns (though you can glean some interesting info, don't depend on them for accurate and fair descriptions). It includes a great map, too, with highlights, but I still liked having a road map as well. We had an amazing day every single day we were in AZ! Thank you Fodor's!

This is the best travel book I've read for quite a while. All the descriptions are clear and interesting. Several destinations are listed that I wasn't even aware existed. This will come in very handy travelling the area.

So much info on Arizona, not only the Grand Canyon, VERY helpful in planning my trip hiking there and Antelope Canyon and seeing sites I didn't know existed that I will detour on my way to also enjoy! Very good information!

This guide provides an excellent overview of Arizona sights and accommodations, and makes the best use of color we have seen in this type of guide. We enjoy reading it even as to places we won't have time to visit.

I would have given this book a 5 star rating because of the great info in this book. The first time I opened the book, 2 pages ripped. One ripped on the top and one ripped on the bottom. Why are these pages so thin? I am keeping because I need it this weekend but the next time I will buy a different travel book.

Super useful guide! Although I had already planned our trip, the guide helped us decide on which options were best.

I bought this book with the intention that it would be a companion book to provide important information about different areas while traveling NE and NW Arizona. But I realized that the book is not at all up to date. Many critical information are missing, which really surprised me. Overall, the book is a real disappointment. Wikipedia is more informative than this book. I would rather rely on Arizaona Highways publication than Fodor's book.

Nice for a quick and dirty review. The Gartner and Hiatt text is a very exhaustive reference, but this BRS text is a very light and easy read. Important structures and terms are bolded. Questions at the ends of each chapter are simple, but cover the topic well. Do not use this as a resource for practicing boards questions, but rather to review the material and as a quick reference guide.

Got the CORRECT book.Got a NEW looking book. It's a 9/10 on newness which is good enough for me. The cover is a bit bent but the inside is not highlighted or written in or anything like that. I'm happy with it. Great book. Teaches you what you need to know for a good prep into Path.Got it fast and prompt.THANK YOU!Happy Holidays.

Very informative book on all sizes and breeds of Labradoodles. The book even discusses vitamin supplements for hair texture and coat.

This book was recommended by our breeder. We are new Labradoodle parents and wanted an overview of the breed. Its pretty thorough covers a lot of topics. I don't agree with every recommendation from the author but I do think this is a worthwhile read for new Puppy Parents as well as general labradoodle owners.

Rajat Gupta convinced me of his integrity and honesty. He is a victim of a witch-hunt. The irony is that his great wealth added to his vulnerability. The author reveals the basic dishonest of prosecutors who pander to populist rage and bitterness. The reader should be enraged---and fearful. But will this be the case? I am doubtful. Read this book and weep. Highly recommended. I feel sympathetic to Mr Gupta as he comes across as a nice and gentle person, however his story is beyond belief. He states innocence, however not only in the original trial but rather also in the appeal against his conviction in court of appeals rejected the arguments, He spends much of the book in giving up the defense, however same defense was found not sufficient by us court of appeals. I feel this is an attempt at revising history to reclaim some reputation. Mr Gupta would have found much more sympathy if he would have accepted his mistakes and have told truthfully all the mistakes that he did may be history would have been less harsh on him that way. Still a sad story nonetheless,.

In contrast to stand-up guy Raj Rajaratnam (i.e. not a rat), Mr. Gupta is a complete and utter phony. As the Vanity Fair article confirms, "Gupta's book shows an alarming lack of regret, an alacrity for finger-pointing, and a stubborn refusal to take responsibility." Don't believe a single word that he says about ANYTHING. Every ex-con has good intentions about helping those he left behind, but really the primary goal is simply to get your life together because you're trying to come back from the dead. Listen, this Gupta Guy ran like a cheetah to get the information in a timely manner on many occasions, not just the GS investment. He wanted to get rich above all else, so he tried to ride The Man's coattails and burned his own ass in the process. It's hard to imagine, but every sentence on every page is a lie. How could someone be so self-unaware and delusional? I can't explain it other than he pretended he was a tough guy at Camp Cupcake who shared a cubicle with "a large, muscular white guy with a shaved head and tattoos on every visible area of skin" yet "professes to remember his time in prison quite fondly." WTF? My first cellie murdered a snitch, had a long knife, and I'm pretty sure I wet my bed that first night. Prison is not a "fond" thing, and if this guy did time in a real joint, he would have been a fondled thing. This dude is clearly manufacturing a narrative as he glides through life with his McKinsey persona still intact. Mr. Gupta, you ruined your life, so get over it and wear your scarlet letter with pride.

The book is an exercise in fantasy for the author.

If using glasses or other unconventional molds, freeze until the pops are beginning to set (45 minutes to 1 hour), then insert the sticks and freeze until solid, 3 to 4 hours. I have only made a couple of recipes from this book so far--the Hibiscus-Raspberry Ice Pop and the Jamaica Aguas Fresca (Hibiscus Iced Tea), but they have both been even better than I expected. I had purchased some hibiscus flowers to make the iced tea, and tried a different recipe I found on-line that called for half as many flowers, and steeping in the refrigerator. I wasn't all that enthusiastic about the final drink, went searching for a way to use up the hibiscus flowers, and remembered this cookbook. I was worried that the iced tea I had made was going to be too weak to work in a popsicle (as frozen items can seem less flavorful than they do when warm), so I followed her recipe for the ice pop which uses her hibiscus agua fresca recipe as a base. The final hibiscus drink was SO much better than the one I had made before--I have since made it twice more (in about a week and a half). The ice pop was fantastic too--although I only have six small popsicle molds (these moldsClearance Sale - Ozera Ice Popsicle Molds, Ice Pop Molds, Ice Pop Maker, Oval, Set of 6, Green which work great, by the way), and using her recipe as written meant that most of each mold was filled with raspberries. So the final ice pop tastes essentially like the most refreshing frozen raspberry ice pop you can imagine--which is not a complaint on any level--but I want to try again with half the amount of raspberries so that I can also taste the hibiscus this time.Anyway, if all of the other recipes are as great as this one (and they sound like they will be), I am looking forward to trying each and every one.

I bought this book years ago when I won an Amazon gift card. If you like making unique and tasty treats this is for you. Gerson has done all the guess work of mixing unlikely ingredients together to create yummy and unforgettable desserts. The spicy pineapple is my absolute favorite but then the lime is pretty awesome too!

At first I was a bit esceptical on buying this books, now that I have it, I think is the best ,easy to use and to understand, my kids love the recipes in this book. I wish the author would of written more paleta recipes instead of aguas frescas...since kids and grown ups love them...specially if you live in a tropical weather as we do.P.s this book is forgiving, so this makes space for you to invent and create your own recipe...onece you read it you can have a better idea how paletas flavor match

The Paletas de Limon came out so good Iâ€™m on here writing a review! Itâ€™s awesome to know exactly how much sugar went into the recipe and see the exact measures of fresh lime juice (vitamin C!). It was nice to awaken to a pop so delicious Iâ€™m writing for all of you to read about it! From the first taste the lime flavor beat out all those Iâ€™ve had from a paletero over the years. No trip to Mexico needed!I made the easy Coconut ones a couple of weeks ago and those were tasty and creamy. Great if you enjoy sweetened condensed milk.While they are hard enough to eat after about 5 hours, I found 24+ hours to be better. Great treat to make to enjoy all week.

This book has some of straightforward simple pop recipes like watermelon, or strawberry, and other more exotic ones. I made the avocado pop and it is delicious! For coconut pop, you have two recipes: one simple recipe where you use canned coconut milk, and another one that teaches you how to use a whole coconut step by step. I love the aguas frescas recipes too, like cucumber-lime where you blend the whole cucumber instead of just sticking some slices into the water, and limeade with chia seeds!

I had no idea that popsicles were such a big thing. This book is chock full of surprising (and delicious) recipes. It has the standards like strawberry, watermelon, and chocolate. But then there are surprises like: avocado, apricot-chamomile, and mezcal-orange.

Love this book! I had a lot of the ingredients on hand. Very cool flavor combinations, along with good stuff that you will surely love! I'm very happy that I purchased this book, though I will say it is a bit smaller than I thought it would be, in regards to the physical size of the book! But you know what they say, dynamite comes in small packages! Yes, you can find paleta recipes online for free, but this book has some great flavors that I wouldn't have thought of trying before! It's also not solely paletas. It's got a variety of things in it to try out. Definitely looking forward to making a bunch of the things mentioned in here. So far, only tried the cantaloupe, strawberry, avocado & lime paletas, because that's what I had on hand to test with! :) VERY YUMMY! Highly recommended!

Looking for a refreshing way to use up a bunch of fruit? This book has recipes for just about any fruit you might come across. While the recipes are not low-sugar, they do taste wonderful! I made the blackberry popsicles, and they were fantastic! There are also recipes for liquid drinks (aguas frescas).

To put it bluntly, The Doors of Perception is a first-hand account of Brave New World author Aldous Huxley's documented experience of tripping balls on mescaline. I've always found it telling how high schools (at least in the eighties and nineties when I attended) would eagerly lead students through an anti-drug perspective of Brave New world without bothering to mention Huxley's later experimentation and promotion of hallucinogenics as positive tool towards psychological and philosophical growth.Â The Doors of Perception is probably one of the most scholarly and grounded first-hand accounts of a hallucinogenic journey you'll ever read, as Huxley takes periodic breaks to expound upon drugs (not all, mind you) as a tool to aid in understanding the perceptions of those suffering from metal illnesses and seeing how the "genius" sees the world, as well as the religious connotations in and human necessity towards chemically aided transcendence.Huxley would later experiment with LSD and continue to support the clinical and societal benefits of hallucinogenics, and would receive injections of LSD on his deathbed at his request. This book is an a must read for anyone interested in the scholarly pursuit of better living through chemistry, or the history of the modern approach and examination of such drugs.

Before reading this book, I had read 'Brave New World' and a few other essays of Huxley.My image of him and his writing was that he was more concerned with issues that link man to the society(the immediate one he interacts with which also exerts an influence on him like town, city, country etc). While Huxley in these pieces, is no doubt, extremely clear and has convincing arguments, the entire tone of his writing and philosophy was to look for solutions from 'The Without'. All his earlier works have the unmistakable ring of objectivity or externality. The 'Doors of Perception' on the other hand is completely different from anything that Huxley had written before. For the first time, possibly, Huxley looks for answers to the riddle of the human predicament from 'The Within'. The classical mechanics led tone of impartiality/ objectivity is not there. It has been replaced by the subtler quantum mechanics treatment of the observer being as much involved(if not more) in the process of self-realisation and understanding of experience.The book is brilliant and takes one into what possibly lies in the realm of 'The Transcendental Country of the Mind' - but the reader should get into it..and to realise the full potential of the book one has to suspend existing precepts in our limited consciousness.There is an oft quoted zen koan which might make my point clearer. A professor of a university once wanted to know what Zen was all about. So he went to this famous Zen monk and asked him to teach Zen. The monk invited him to first have a cup of tea. He placed a cup before the prof and continued pouring tea into his cup even though it was full. After sometime, the prof got completely agitated and told the Zen Monk, "Why are you still pouring into the cup? Don't you see it? Its already full".The monk replied, "Exactly. How can I teach you Zen when you are so full of yourself in the same way as this tea cup".The same koan applies to reading 'Doors of Perception'..

Lowe doesn't necessarily introduce new ideas for paying off debt in Slaying the Debt Dragon, but it's refreshing to hear her perspective and gather some of her money-saving tips.Like Ramsey, she tries to keep it simple. "It isn't that complex. Spend less than you make so you can whack away incrementally at the debt dragon with all you've got." The biggest key (again, no surprise) is making a budget and keeping it. She's a fan of the envelope system, and using cash only, especially at the grocery store and eating out.She explicitly ties in freedom from debt to freedom to live a fuller life as a Christian. "We had lost a sense of contentment. . . . We had lost the bigger picture of the adventure God wanted to take us on through our story. Living day to day, paying bill after bill, our lives had been locked into a boring status quo existence." I like this perspective. It's not about making money and saving money. It's all about making space in your life and your lifestyle to follow and obey God.Slaying the Debt Dragon is a very personal, honest book, but I wish she had given a bit more perspective on the income side. Her husband is a lawyer, so I assume he was making a decent income. On the other hand, she mentioned that he picked up some side jobs, but she doesn't go into what they were or what kind of hours those demanded. $120 thousand is certainly a ton of debt, but did they pay it off while earning a salary of $40K a year, or $200K a year? I was just curious about that detail of the story. Whatever their income, their story is still inspiring and informative. She doesn't make paying off mounds of debt sound easy, but she definitely makes it sound doable.Thanks to Edelweiss and the publisher for the complimentary electronic review copy!

This book is great! While telling this family's experience about conquering their massive debt, they also keep it real by asking the reader to make it their own and fight the fight of getting back in financial shape with some wise advice.

Imagine the kind of outline you used to make for a term paper in High School. Imagine that the main headings are A+ material, the sub-headings are A- minus material, and when you get down to the details, the quality drops off to C+.This book is just like that.The author has a strong personal story, and the main themes of the book - that good things usually come from risk taking, that "playing it safe" has its own dangers, and we should not allow setbacks to make us overly risk-averse - are totally valid and need to be said. I was a bit disappointed at the (lack of) depth however. Instead of a great principle, deeper explanation of the principle, multiple examples of the principle in action, and suggestions/plans for applying the principle, the reader gets a great principle followed up by cheerleading, slogans, and other relative superficialities.Overall not a bad book, and it's based on some outstanding insights. I fully expect this author's next book to be better.

It's a little jarring to see Indians included as part of the "natural" history, equivalent to Roosevelt elk or Olympic marmots, but McNulty treats white settlers and the National Park Service in the same way.McNulty weaves together an overall story of the peninsula despite dividing it into habitats and the like. This makes it a good read from start to finish, but it would also be useful as a companion for a visit - - just read the rainforest chapter when you're in the rainforests, and so on.McNulty also includes various personal moments, all well-timed and appropriate in length. This is not a personal memoir but these memories truly enhance the natural history that he presents. He also has an infectious enthusiasm, makes this book a lively read for a general audience.It also has beautiful pictures.In short, a great book if you're at all interested in the Olympic Peninsula.

The book covered every aspect of the park totaling preparing me for my upcoming six day hiking adventure in the park.

We went to the Olympic Penninsula on a family trip and saw many of these beautiful places! Fabulous photographs, great memories!

McNutly is a poet. However, this book is one of his works of nonfiction. It's full of science and history and facts, like a textbook... yet, somehow, it also is poetic.I'm in my 40's and a recent transplant to the PNW. Like many many others, for centuries before me, I was drawn here... I made a choice to live here. I'm here now and feel the need to bury myself into it.... I'm glad I found this book (and author).If you are looking to learn more about the geology, flora and fauna, and early native history of the Olympic peninsula you can't go wrong reading this book.

I've studied the biota of the region covered by this book for over 30 years. I found McNulty's writing elegantly styled and well balanced with researched information. This is an impressively comprehensive overview of the natural history of the Olympic Peninsula.
