Cheryl Charming - Your newest book #TheCocktailCompanion is stinking brilliant. From the ‘glass is half full’ ice block technique, to the history timeline of mixology trends and influences in literature, media, tv and movies, to the most influential bartenders, to the origin and historic relevance of those cocktails we ‘just order’ now a days, to making your own bitters, to all about absinthe, aperitifs, digestifs and a jillion of fun facts!! This IS YOUR BEST BOOK!! Congrats!Order today folks! You won't regret it for one moment. It's a compilation of your life, your experience and your research for decades all rolled up in one fabulous book. If there is one thing I've learned about libations is...YOU are the expert in these matters. Knowing some history, trends and trivia makes for a whole other level of fun when sharing and toasting life with friends and family.
This is my favorite book by Cheryl Charming. Many hours of research must have gone into this book, and it shows. Ms. Charmings work is written in easy-to read format, yet conveys a wealth of information on cocktail history, trivia, and culture. I love it.
What a treat! This book is beautifully put together and packed with fascinating historical details. It's a thoroughly engaging read even for someone who knows next to nothing about cocktails. A perfect holiday gift.
I adore this book ...so much I immediately bought a second copy for a friend ...this should be in every bartenders collection, it’s not just a drinks manual , you can tell it’s written by someone that truly loves this industry, from recipes to technique, History to fun facts and trivia , this book has it all.I adored the chapter on cocktails in movies....this is a book that everyone can enjoyThank you Miss Charming
I am in receipt of The Cocktail Companion and it is a stunner.Line me up, if bloody absolutely necessary. I am among the first to imbibe the best a city has to offer in the finest of its cocktail bars but if there is anything I adore more than a well made libation, it is the history of that libation. Particularly if it is among the classics. This book is a literal sea--and sea change--of encyclopedic knowledge about cocktail--and cocktail culture--history brought together in one place. I shrink to imagine the depth of time and difficulty that went into the creation of this drinking tome.I don't think there's anything she missed. Literally. Cheryl covers everything from alcohol's history, to Prohibition, the story of different alcohols--i.e. whiskey, gin, etc--ice, cocktail glassware, bar etiquette, the fifteen most influential American bartenders and cocktails in film, literature and television. And that ain't even the half of it.But, yeah, don't worry, she's also got your six on the drinks themselves, their recipes and how to make them.I live in New Orleans. Cheryl Charming is the Bar Director of the Bourbon "O" Jazz Bar on Bourbon Street. This is a true statement: The Bourbon "O" Jazz Bar was formerly a dive bar of doom and it is now the only bar that fronts that storied street that has dedicated itself to, and consistently makes, great cocktails, classic and house craft. It is one of the great cocktail bars in our city. We can all thank Cheryl for that--and, of course, the amazing team of talented bartenders that she assembled. You know this is true by not only the quality of her drinks, here, but also by the company she keeps. Read the kudos on her book. They are, literally, scribed by the Who's Who of the greatest cocktail personalities of our time. And they don't suffer pretenders to the throne.Simply put: If you enjoy drinking, making or enjoying the history of cocktails (or, of course, all of the above!)--or know someone who does--this book is for you. It is a keeper. It is your new drinking companion.Like a fine libation, you will savor it.
I have a few books by Cheryl Charming, and she consistently delivers an entertaining read full of interesting tidbits of mixology history and lore. This new one is perfect for longtime aficionados and cocktail beginners, alike. Highly recommended!
Great book! Wonderful stories, recipes and a reference guide.
